How much Fps would it take to humanely kill a rabbit?

Planning on buying air rifle or airsoft rifle. Which is better for the job? Currently living in UKHow much Fps would it take to humanely kill a rabbit?
Air Rifles are better. Cause for air soft rifles the FPS is around 350-500.

Meanwhile for the air rifles if You get a good one they can shoot up to 1.200 FPS.

For instince I have the Crosman Phantom 1000x (now remember the FPS for the Crosman Phantom goes up to 1000 FPS.) And useing PBA raptor rounds i get up to about 1.200 FPS.

P.S. And the plus side of having a spring Air rifle is I don't have to waste money on CO2.

P.S.S. Plus I own a Slingshot and there sufficient for Game such as Squirrels and up.How much Fps would it take to humanely kill a rabbit?
Airsoft won't kill a rabbit. Airsoft guns shoot soft rubber 6mm BBs. They're designed to shoot at people without injuring them during wargames. In effect they're toys not hunting weapons.

An air-rifle will kill rabbits, provided you properly place your shots. With an air-rifle, unless you have a firearms certificate, you'll be limited to 12 ft-lbs of muzzle energy by law.(1)(2) Fortunately rabbits only require 5 ft-lbs of impact energy.(3) A UK legal (11-12 ft-lb) rifle in either .17 or .22 caliber would have enough energy to kill rabbit at 40 yards or more. The limiting factor will be your ability to place the pellet accurately for a head shot (which means you have to keep all your shots in a 1-1.5 inch diameter circle). That's probably going to limit you to no more than 30-35 yards.

You can find more information about what kind of equipment you'll need at a website called Air Rifle Pest Control (4).
Air rifle. Without a doubt. With air rifles you can buy special pellets to humanely dispatch small animals. Airsoft weapons fire a BB (Ball bearing) which a round ball, which is far more likely to ';knock the rabbit for six'; as we would say in England, rather than kill it.

If you live in the country, you may want to consider getting yourself a proper rifle of a small calibre, for example .22 Long Rifle. Anything more powerful than this is completely unnecessary. If you do not live in the country then your neighbours will probably not take very well to you letting of live rounds in your garden. To own a firearm in the UK you need a firearms certificate (FAC) which you can pick up from you local police station. (Another idea if you live in the country, how about a shotgun, e.g a 20bore - For this you will need a shotgun certificate.) To get either of these certificates you will have to provide references and have a clean criminal record. (I'm sure they will let you get away with parking/speeding offences!)

If you decide to get an air rifle, another option is to get a gas powered rifle. (generally powered by carbon dioxide, CO2). An example of this is the crossman ratcatcher.

Air rifles can be bought in some outdoor shops and most army surplus shops.

Hope this helps
An airsoft rifle is a toy, and not intended for hunting.

An air rifle of sufficient power and accuracy makes a fine small game hunter.

%26gt;%26gt;fps to kill a rabbit%26lt;%26lt;

It takes a minimum of 5ft-lbs at impact with a perfect head shot to make a clean, humane kill on a rabbit.

.177 caliber air rifle

530fps** with 8gr pellets = 5.0ft-lbs

.22 caliber air rifle

400fps** with 14gr pellets = 5.0ft-lbs

**That would have to be the ';impact velocity'; and keep in mind, that's the minimum.
the chanses are that unless you use a real gun with a large calliber you wont kill the rabit straight off, unless you get a head shot.the uk limit is 12 foot pounds which i think is about 800 fps with a 22 calliber and more with a 1.77 and that will most knock the rabit over with a good shot but alot of times you will have to run over and break its neck which is more humane than it sounds.if you dont have a good shot and you skim the rabit it will run of and get better or die.in the end shooting a rabit on the whole is fairly humane and if you hit them they die quikley within a few seconds.before you go hunting practice and remember tyhat you only realy get one shot per half hour unless you have a silencer so dont shoot too early, wait for the right shot. and an air rifle beats air soft.
There will be nothing humane about trying to kill a rabbit with an airsoft gun. I would recommend that you acquire a .22lr bolt action rifle. This will allow you to use the .22 short subsonic rounds or the full power .22 long rounds. A .177 or .22 pellet rifle with a rifled barrel will work as well. Even a good sling shot will dispatch a rabbit. In the U.S. we shoot each other with airsoft guns for fun so I am a lil cynical of their lethal potential.
Be smart and be wise. Shooting any live animal with an airsoft gun is STUPID! Airsofts were not designed for live hunts. Go get yourself a .22 and then you can hunt rabbits humanely!
You won't kill anything (humanely or otherwise) with an airsoft gun.

For hunting small game use an airgun or a .22 rifle. Airsoft guns are ONLY good for shooting your mates...
The 12ft/lb UK limit will do it at close range %26lt;under 30yds providing you do your part with a headshot.
