How Difficult Is It To Have A Pet Rabbit?

I used to have a guinea pig, and it was a bit of a hassle with my having to clean its wastes a lot. I am interested in caring for a rabbit, so what are the biggest challenges when keeping one? Is it okay to just buy one rabbit instead of two? Thanks. How Difficult Is It To Have A Pet Rabbit?
Hi I have 3 female rabbits hence female so they don't breed. If you only want one rabbit I suggest you hand rear it and spend lots of time with it and pottie train it so you don't have to clean up its mess all the time all you have to do is change its tray like a cats kitty litter tray. My friend trained there rabbit like a dog so if you are prepared to spend the time then you will be rewarded. Dont just buy a rabbit and stick it in a small hutch to get fat. my 3 are in huge cages with smaller internal cages so they can run fee they love to hop and run and they are very funny to watch. but not everyone has the space for large cages. one rabbit is fine two is if you are not going to have the time to give it attention it will like a friend but not the opposite sex or you will be in trouble. you will end up with more then you can handle. hope this is helpful. ps if your going to have any animal unfortunately you will always have some kind of mess to clean be it dog poo or even bird poo in a cage. so until you are ready for that I suggest you do not get an animal. good luck....How Difficult Is It To Have A Pet Rabbit?
I had a pet rabbit for three years. We kept him outside in a rabbit hutch. I personally think that rabbits are not good pets for three reasons. 1. My rabbit would run really fast and it was hard to catch 2. The cage/hutch gets REALLY smelly and gross and it's such a pain to clean 3. If I brought the rabbit in the house to play with, it would go to the bathroom all over. Also, in the winter, I would cover the hutch with heavy plastic and would have to change the water bottles twice a day, b/c they would freeze. I thought it was a lot of work having that rabbit. Luckily, when we moved, a kid next door wanted a rabbit, so we gave him ours.
we had a rabbit as a house pet for a while. It pooped everywhere. Same as a guinee pig when it comes to caring for it. if you didn't like caring for the g.p. you won't like caring for bugs bunny either.
It is perfectly fine to have just one rabbit, as long as you interact with it daily. A rabbit is not a hard animal to raise, but it is a long time commitment. Rabbits can live to be over 10 years old! Rabbits are very smart animals and can be trained to walk on a leash, be potty trained, etc. The biggest challenge is to keep it entertained...rabbits can be very destructive. Make sure to show him/her plenty of love, and you'll do fine.

I recommend getting a holland lop. :) Very social yet cuddly. They are a cross between a Mini Lop and a Netherland Dwarf giving them the BEST temperment!

Hope this helped and good luck!
I have two rabbits. They are definately not difficult to take care of. I believe my biggest obstacles with these two is cleaning their cages maybe once a week, and letting them out of their cage (due to my busy schedule) to run around and KEEPING an eye on them. You may have to litter train them to a point where they know to go to the bathroom in their cages. Mine can last up to an hour without going everywhere on the carpet. I wish I could only have one rabbit, but the other was one my sister couldn't take care of so I'm sorta stuck and attached. So, only get one if you choose to get a rabbit.
Its ok all you have to do is feed it and water it. Its really not that bad. i had one before. It was easy for me.
yes you can have just one rabbit, give them lots of love and greens.
It is soo not difficult, i have 1 rabbit and she is soo easy to take care of,

i spent a little time litter training her, so all i have to do is change the litter (totaly easy!!) so here is a site for litter training your rabbit :

then ....food and water

all you have to do is make sure the rabbit has clean water , and food to acess, every day (which is pretty simple)

** the food incudes pellets and alfalfa/ timothy hay

some treats you can use are:

carrots (don't over feed- too much starch)

rasins

and plenty other rabbit treats at the pet store

** make sure you try to stay away from lettuce ( that gives them diarhea)

and

you need a large cage for your rabbit to live freely and comfortably

ALSO (the most important)

you need to know what breed you want to get

- you can go to a local shelter and adopt one,

if not, try this site, it has a list of all the breeds!

GOOD LUCK!!!

i hope i helped -- i wrote down every thing i knew about taking care of rabbits, just in case you wanted to know i have a dwarf rabbit and they don't grow to be very big, just incase you wanted a rabbit that wasn't too big!

GOOD LUCK!!! (oops i think i already said that lol)

ps-- you can email me if you need anything else!!
They say the best pet is a rabbit. Their ages are easy to clean and they don't smell. It is fne to buy only one rabbit but they usually prefer a friend. You can box train them so they ';go'; in a box with kitty litter. I want to get a lop. They need to get 2 shots though but I am not sure what they are called so check with a vet. if you let them roam in your home they might poop everywhere. So if you let them out of your cage, make sure you are holding them. They have special leashes for rabbits so you can walk them outside.
