Anyone have any info about getting a rabbit as a pet? How would i go about getting one when?

i already have a nearly 7year old shih-tzu dog (he's an inside dog). Would the dog a rabbit get along? I'm in australia in queensland, does anyone know if its true queensland is the only place in australia where you need a license to get a rabbit? Do they carry any diseases and give them to people?Anyone have any info about getting a rabbit as a pet? How would i go about getting one when?
they can get on great with dogs but if you know nothing about them read up first, to care for a rabbit properly is expensive the right diet..dental problems..and e.cuniculi..the silent killer of rabbits the need vaccinating against mixi..vhd and regular worming with panacur to also combat e.cuniculi..my rabbit just lost a year long battle against this..is was a terrrible time ..most dont last a couple of weeks but he was a stong lad.. just have a think before you buyAnyone have any info about getting a rabbit as a pet? the dog should be okay..but make sure he knows the command ';LEAVE IT';

check your local SPCA or animal shelter first..

Pet stores should be the LAST place you check.. a breeder is second choice..

I dont know about licenses and no diseases..

here is a pic of my daughters bunny..

we have cats, and they are fine.
Rabbits dont carry diseases which pass onto people, your rabbit will be ok with your dog, when you introduce them and if your dog is a bit aggressive then just put your rabbit in a run, I have a terrier and 3 rabbits, he would love to get his hands on the rabbits but knows the run is out of bounds. A shih-tzu could probably grow to love your rabbit though!! You will need a large hutch, the biggest you can afford! You can get rabbits anywhere, you can get them in pet shop, in classifieds and rescue centres.
