Is there a way to preserve a rabbit fur coat?

Some of the hair comes off, but it is such a beautiful coat. I am guessing it is from the 70s. Is there a way to preserve the coat and make the fur not fall out?

Storing a Fur Coat





Step1Hang the fur coat on a padded hanger.


Step2Put the coat into a large pure cotton bag, securing the bag tightly just under the hook of the hanger.


Step3Hang in a dark cool closet.


Step4Remove the coat from the bag every 3 months and shake it out.


Step5Place it back in the bag and return to closet.





Drying a Fur Coat That Has Been Used in the Rain or the Snow





Step1Hang the fur coat on a padded hanger.


Step2Blot the wet coat gently with a clean white cotton towel.


Step3Hang the coat in a warm dry place away from direct heat or sunlight.


Step4Shake the coat out when dry and store as usual.





Cleaning a Spill on a Fur Coat

Is there a way to preserve a rabbit fur coat?
My wife keeps hers (3) in a closet that is lined with cedar wood. (keeps the moths out) She has had hers since the 80's. She has a blck one, a pure white one and a multi-colored natural coat.





You can buy cedar shavings in most home centers, I believe.





They were real popular in the early 80's
You could use cedar balls or cedar hanger ,do not put it in a plastic bag the hair will come off . do use a fabric garment bag. Also check for nits (eggs) along the bald spots.
