Does a rabbit have to be at least 16 weeks before its aloud to eat grass and veg?

we went to the pet shop and the lady there said that rabbits have to be at least 16 weeks old before it can eat grass and veg. also my rabbit is about 9 weeks old, we got him on saturday and he dosn't seem to be eatinng his food! ( maybe he is but we just can't see because we filled his bowl up to the top!)Does a rabbit have to be at least 16 weeks before its aloud to eat grass and veg?
This is not true, I have always given my rabbits vegatables from a young age.

With any vegetables you need to remember not to give them too much because it can cause diarreah (especially cellery and lettuce) But small amounts of veggies like carrot and brocolli are fine.

I have 2 9 week old rabbits at the moment who eat vegetables every day and they have never had diarreah.

In addition to veggies they need, pellets, grain and hay. If they are not eating enough of these, cut back on the veggies.Does a rabbit have to be at least 16 weeks before its aloud to eat grass and veg?
I have always heard eight weeks, but it actually depends on how fast the rabbit develops and how long the mom is patient and will feed milk. There comes a time when neither mom or baby are interested in giving or taking milk anymore. Usually you offer food and the bunny will decide for itself. I think it also depends on the breed. Of course, you want to play it safe, so i would really read and study it up, i could very well be wrong since i only have so much experience. I think your rabbit should be just fine with plain food, but watch him, monitor him and see how he does
When they can eat regular food and sometimes before they eat regular food they can eat grass and veggies!
These should help.

yes, they have to be at least 16 weeks, and even then you should only feed small amounts for treats, if they eat too much grass and veggies they can get diarrhea and die
Rabbits can begin eating grass hays as soon as they are able to on their own. Hay is the number one part of a rabbit's diet and should be offered in unlimited quantities at all times.

Baby rabbits can be safely introduced to veggies at 6 to 8 weeks. The best way to do that is offer only one type at a time instead of the usual mix we offer our adult rabbits. For example, offer him some romaine lettuce and if he likes it and seems to be doing well with it, offer some parsley the next week, and so on.

Have you considered adopting two bunnies instead of just one? Rabbits are very social, family animals and so much better in pairs or groups. Since your guy is so young, he may be missing company and doesn't feel like eating. This can be very dangerous, so try and make sure he is eating something. Offer fresh hay, a fresh vegetable, plenty of fresh water from a bowl, not a bottle, and plenty of plain rabbit pellets.

Don't get the pellets with treats and cute stuff in them, they are unhealthy for the bunny. Plain alfalfa pellets are what you want for babies until they are about 8 months old.

I'm including a few links for you that have great rabbit info. Enjoy your bunny, and consider getting him a buddy!
