My rabbit is losing all of the hair off of her butt and she is very dirty in that area. What could be wrong?

She is a mini rex rabbit and I feed her a half and half mixture of corn and alfalfa pellets (rabbit food). Should I change her diet at all? Her cage has gotten to be quite messy, but i don't know why. Her cage has been in our small barn all winter and I am hoping to move her outside soon. Will that help?My rabbit is losing all of the hair off of her butt and she is very dirty in that area. What could be wrong?
Corn is no good for rabbits, if you want a supplement give her oats. Diarrhea in rabbits is a serious problem, it can lead to wet tail., and if your rabbit gets dehydrated you could lose her. FIrst clean her backside up, use baby wipes or a warm wet wash cloth, then dry the area thoroughly. Next examine her genitalia, if it is red and irritated apply a small amount of neosporin to the area. Once your rabbit is clean and dry, put her somewhere safe and get to work sterilizing her cage. A mild bleach solution should do the trick, a capful of bleach in a 1 gallon bucket of water. Clean her cage up ridding it of all traces of feces. While you are at it clean her food and water dishes a dry them too. Once her cage is dry you can put her back in it. Watch her closely for more watery stools. I have a feeling once you take the corn out of her diet she will start having regular rabbit droppings, but if the diarrhea continues after a day or two without corn, get her to a vet.My rabbit is losing all of the hair off of her butt and she is very dirty in that area. Corn is really bad for rabbits, stop giving it. Give your rabbit lots if timothy hay to eat.

Is she over weight? A fat rabbit cannot groom properly so the back end will be messy as well as the gentiles.

Clean the cage for often. You may need to clean the whole cage every day. You do not want your rabbit sitting in it's own filth.

You should also take your rabbit to a rabbit savvy vet. There is something going on that cannot be diagnosed over the Internet.
Clean her cage every day. Give her rabbit pellets and hay, no corn!
u should call a vet
is her poop runny? it sounds like she has dioreaha.

this is usually caused by too much green vegetables in the diet at once, how long has she been on this diet of alfalfa pellets, and also how long has she had a messy but?

my male lop eared rabbit recently had something like this, turns out it was just a bit of dioreaha from to much greens in the diet (he had been out in the garden all day and ate alot of grass)

it sounds nasty but i had to clean his bum with cotton wool balls and warm water, its horrible but worth it, if you leave it, then it will only get worse and lead to more serious symptons and you dont want that.

clean the cage out good and proper and her bum, trust me on the cotton wool and warm water thing it works wonders. good luck hope i helped. :)
