Can any rabbit be trained to live in a house?

I would like to get my son a rabbit for his birthday as he loves them, but there are lots of foxes in my area and would rather keep it as a house rabbit! Do you have to get a particular breed for this? and would i need to keep a hutch or something indoor, and can they be toilet trained? Thankyou as much info will be gratefully received. Can any rabbit be trained to live in a house?
My rabbit was an indoor one. I trained him to use a litter tray and it only took a couple of goes before he got the idea.

You must keep him in a cage when your not around as they chew EVERYTHING!! Mine had 9 lives as his favourite things to chew were electrical wires.

They are lovely when trained to be indoors, mine used to come and settle down next to me on the sofa and fall asleep.

Still make sure however, he gets plenty of outdoor time. Get a run that you can put him in for at least 1 hour a day.

My poor little chap died last year of old age.Can any rabbit be trained to live in a house?
My uncle caught one in the wild and kept it in his house. He keeps a litter box in the basement and feeds it in a bowl. So, no particular breed is needed, and can be toilet trained.
rabbits can be toilet trained indoors ,i dont see a problem, with any breed.
Yes rabbits make excellent indoor pets. They can be toilet trained, and will use a litter tray full of hay/shavings. There is no one particular breed that would be best. I think you should just base the decision on what you think you can handle. If you have a small amount of space to keep the rabbit then I suggest you get a small breed, like a dwarf lop or similar.

You will need to bunny proof your home though as rabbits will chew furniture.

Take a look at these sites they might give you more info.

Yes they can. I have a holland lop that has been a house bunny since the day I brought her home from the local animal shelter. Rabbits can be litter box trained. I would suggest you have cage for your rabbit indoors. This way, when you're not home or asleep, you can keep your rabbit in his cage to keep him safe from getting into mischief.

Here's a good resource!

Best wishes!
any rabbit can be kept indoors as long as it is not a wild one and you get it from a breeder or a pet store. House rabbits make wonderful pets. mine are indoors in winter and outdoors in summer they come in in the summer too so they dont get out of the habbit of being handled.
any rabbit will do.house train with litter tray, but they do eat all the wires in the house
a good breed of rabbit to get would probably be the dwarf breeds. Rabbits are just like cats, you can litterbox train them. You can even train them to walk on a leash. You can have the rabbit spayed/neutered as well.
You can train a rabbit just like a dog or a cat...use a litter tray...but build a little pen for him in the garden as well so that he has some freedom ,supervised of course.
You can keep rabbits inside the. I had a dwarf rabbit which is smaller then others rabbits which you may want to get since it's living indoors. My rabbit had a few accidents in the house but then just stopped as he got older. I let him run around the house all day putting him back in his cage about ever hour for bathroom breaks.
